Learn, Create Share

For our Teacher only day in Term 2, we were all introduced to the model of 'Learn, Create, Share' for the purpose of teaching and learning.
From Term 3 onwards, we in the Middle syndicate (Year 3 and 4) at Tamaki Primary had decided to take 'Learn, Create, Share' to the next level. For this we had to plan keeping the 3 elements in mind for all curriculum areas. At first, I was very nervous about trailing this but when I introduced it to my students, I found that my students were more engaged in their learning. It gave them an opportunity to explore their learning to greater depths. It also made them excited about their learning because what they created through their learning was their original piece of work and they were very proud to share it with others. Over the week, students started asking me questions like " Why is it important to learn what we are learning?" " How can we create something with what we have learnt"?
The Learn, Create, Share model has given a new dimension and direction to the students' learning in my class. It has allowed my students to think how their learning can be of use to them in future and why is it important to learn what they are learning at school. For sure I am enjoying it and would love to explore it further through practice.
